1. January 22 2011 – Dr Marian Tolley led a morning focusing on Christafideles Laici at St Alban’s School. This was well-attended by around 40 people representing all areas of parish life. About half-and-half men and women, and an encouraging number of younger people. 2. List of Mass Times around the LPA circulated to parishes for display on Parish Notice-boards. 3. LPA Reading Group established. 4. LPA Bank Account set up. 5. On Saturday, May 14 a number of people from our various parishes attended the morning at Blessed John Newman Church in Warrington. Bishop Brian gave a talk on Becoming a More Caring, Compassionate Community, which followed on well from Dr Tolley’s presentation in January. This was followed by an opportunity to reflect and share with people from other parts of the Diocese. 6. The LPA was well represented at the annual Catechists’ Day with Bishop Mark in June, the focus of which was The Riches of the Catechism. 7. LPA Parishes were invited to join St Alban’s 200 Year Celebrations at their Open Church weekend in June. 8. LPA joint celebration of Confirmation on June 19 – another successful example of our parishes working together. 9. A Reflect and Share afternoon for First Sacrament catechists took place in September. Catechists from four of our LPA parishes attended. As well as sharing their experiences, catechists were also able to share resources and ideas. 10. Our second Adult Education Event of the year took place on October 1, when Bishop Brian led a morning focused on how we can become more caring communities. Once again, attendance was excellent. Bishop Brian felt that this was proof that there is a need for ongoing adult formation and said he very much hoped that we would continue offering these within the LPA. 11. Our annual Approaching Advent Celebration for Catechists took place on November 8 at St Edward’s. Sister Catherine Darby gave a prayerful visual presentation looking at Mary’s humanity from the time of the Annunciation right into her old-age. This again was well attended – around 40 catechists – all our parishes were represented. November 17th 2011 |
